Lifeguards are on duty from 10am - 6pm at 50 locations from Caspian Ave. to Jackson Ave. July 1 - Labor Day. (A limited number of beaches are protected from Memorial Day to July 1, and Labor Day to September 30.)
Our Beach Patrol does expect, however, that enjoying our waters be done responsibly. Please swim only where lifeguards are present. The waters are typically calm but there are times when fierce currents and rip tides are present. Please be sure to follow instructions from the lifeguards, they have valuable information about swimming in the ocean currents and rip tides.

Beach Replenishment Project
Every year, the Atlantic City beach takes a beating from the tides of the great Atlantic Ocean, and little by little the beaches are washed away. Without sand on the beach, what would the beachgoers do? Well, if it wasn’t for the 2003 Beach Replenishment Project, there may not have been much of a beach to enjoy today. The $24 million Absecon Island Shore Protection Project included sand replenishment in both Ventnor and Atlantic City and calls for sand replenishment every 3 years for the next 50 years. This allows Atlantic City beachgoers to enjoy a beach that is always at least 200-feet wide.
